Detail of Karen theinyat (ikat dyeing and weaving). This theinyat (ikat) pattern is known as the "they taw" (prawn) design and was particular to Sher Poh Day (Crab Claws Village) Lu Thaw Township, Northern Karen State, Burma/Myanmar. Women in the village dyed their ikat according to this pattern to indicate either where they were born or where they lived.
